Vision, objectives and goals:
Proponer un modelo de difusión de investigaciones tipo congreso de carácter multidisciplinario y multicultural orientado a la salud.
Summary:

Gjakova Learning Resource Center & Main Family Health Center Project
Country of activity:
Kosovo
Category:
Health
Operational areas:
Urban
Rural
Vision, objectives and goals:
Kosova as the after war country and Gjakova as well has significant poverty, so health of population is direct dependent on the effectiveness of the Primary Health Care. Since health of the mothers and children’s are one of the basic concepts of PHC then strengthening the PHC sector is thus directly related to improvement of their health and others as well.
The fundamental objective is to improve people’s quality of life, especially for pregnant women’s and their baby’s avoiding sickness and death due to poverty and no access to a better healthcare system and education. Gjakova and Kosova as well need a healthcare system to face its population’s epidemiological and demographic changes, inequality in access to health care educational programmes etc. Since Kosova has the highest prenatal, neonatal and maternal death in Europe then the situation is critical if we observe the fact that clinical solutions are available, but due to their structure these are not available to all beneficiaries this especially due to the lack of qualitative antenatal care services in Kosova. IT’s information’s are the very powerful tool for health professionals and community to increase their awareness about importance of designing and implementation of antenatal care program that are Evidence based. The efficient resources are not operationally feasible when there is a lack of TICs. The specific objectives of the LRC& MFHC are:
(1) To provide qualitative and comprehensive Antenatal Care training that is effective for Family Medicine Doctors and Nurses in order to improve their knowledge and skills.
(2) to increase access to up-to-date health and medical information;
(3) to promote the adoption of evidence-based practice;
(4) to increase the awareness of pregnant women’s and their families about importance of systemic antenatal care in preventing complications during and after pregnancy.
How ICT contributes to the organisational objectives:
Health improvement of pregnant women’s and their children’s (families) health .
We are using following indicators: Patients satisfaction questionnaires, maternal mortality rate and prenatal mortality rate.
Results:
1. Patients are very satisfy
2. Maternal Mortality rate = 0
3. Prenatal Mortality rate=0
These are the curent results that we have from;202 antenatal visits
Summary:
In order to promote improvements in health care practice, policy, and health education the LRC&MFHC model provides health professionals and community with access to information. LRC&MFHC are established from AIHA (American International Health Alliance) and Ministry of Health of Kosovo within Primary Care of Gjakova. LRC of Gjakova has several computers with Internet access and a collection of on-line and CD-ROM-based health and medical databases. LRC and MFHC are managed by specially trained staffs that are responsible for providing; training, outreach, and information support to personnel, health care for patients, and members of the local community. LRC&MFHC staffs are also responsible for working with healthcare professionals at their institutions to conduct periodic literature reviews to facilitate the evaluation of current standards of practice relating to clinical diagnosis and treatment, preventive health services, and health promotion or education. Maternal Mortality Rate (22/100,000) and Infant Mortality Rate (35/1000 live births) are the highest in Europe. Antenatal care was exclusive competence of Hospitals. Using LRC facilities and human resources (trainers) of MFHC this project seeks to increase awareness of importance of implementation of antenatal care in Primary Care.

New Zealand Health Intranet
Country of activity:
New Zealand

Category:
Health
Vision, objectives and goals:
The aim of the project is to provide the tools to drive an information culture across the health industry and having the right information available in the right place at the right time. This will radically improve the quality of care, reduce levels of mistakes and increase health outcomes for all of us.
How ICT contributes to the organisational objectives:
Currently one third of public hospitals, ten percent of GPs, the largest hospital chain, payments agency and NZHIS have signed up to the infrastructure and are using it to communicate with each other. The number of organisations and users will double in February 2000. The infrastructure enables n-line access to previously manual systems. For example a referral of patient to hospital can Now be made secure via email rather than by post or fax. This speeds up treatment for an individual. As the information culture developes across the health industry significant health gains will accure.
User needs:
From the need to move the national patient identifer onto an IP-based platform and from the need to increase the level of security used to manage patient data.
Summary:
The project involved a significant consultation and design phase, leading to development of the technical solution. This solution was piloted during 1998 across 2 major public hospitals, 20 general practitioners and NZHIS. Once complete the pilots were reviewed prior to national implementation.

Vision, objectives and goals:
- to inform French - Speaking youth via Internet and other means of communication about the urgencies of the moment
- to combine our effort in order to struggle successfully
- to share our experiences to strengthen our foundations
- to create a circle of solidarity between youth around the world.
- To organize debates, conferences throughout schools in the home land
- To awake the conscience of the governments on the importance of our policy
Our project is unique because it gathers together people having in common a language even though they live far away
from one aNother - and so, it creates a new solidarity between youngsters what can lead to new relationship on
other matters.
How ICT contributes to the organisational objectives:
As results of our project up until today.
- We have received a lot of congratulation mail and anNouncement throughout the whole world. It is a sign that our
project is working. The aim of our project is first to inform and proudly we can say that we have achieved such a
goal. Last December 99, we received an invitation from S.O.S Christmas for all. We have also received a letter from
Togolese Movement for Needy Kids Happiness
We organise periodically debates and conferences in schools on the topic: drug-alcohol-sex-and AIDS and
everywhere we present our program, we meet wonderful participation of the youngsters. After our conferences and
debates we always receive a lot of evidence letters from students who have come to change their way of life. We
also distribute condom to youngsters, a donation from some of our overseas collaborators
We also appear sometimes on TV where we present the objectives of our project to the public and most of time a
debate follows. We have also received congratulation letters from same modern companies which are ready to act as
our sponsor in the limit of their possibility in critical time.
Summary:
Cultural Center for excellence between people of different cultures, the French Speaking Community has become
Nowadays a real tool for kNowledge and idea exchange and a barometer to evaluate the quality of relation between
developing Countries and developed Countries which have this exchange tool in common.
Our planet has become what the techNocrats call - a planetary village, thanks to wonderful techNological progress in
Communication via Satellite, Internet and other ways of communication and the inhabitants of the whole world feels
henceforth closer to one aNother, more concerned about one aNother's problems what leads to much solidarity among
people.
The great social strata which benefits a lot from that planetary opening is the youth.
From Africa to Quebec, from Vietnam to France via Central Europe - Belgium, Switzerland, youngsters put themselves
together like Siamese twins and share the same fears and the same hope: their thirst to kNow, to discover new
horizons the dream of success and grandeur, to communicate with others the danger of uncontrolled sexuality, the
attraction of drugs, tobacco, alcohol without forgetting the bad effects of war.
Thanks to media, such as TV, radio, Internet, all those worries display one by one without stopping like a perpetual
film, putting therefore youngsters in the center of a whirl of innumerable events likely to disrupts their way of living
and to change there behaviour.
What one has to do facing such a situation? To which point of reference must one identify himself in order to make
assertion.
Here appears the importance of the concept of the French-Speaking community, this cultural link with which linguistic,
racial and political inequalities decrease, misunderstanding minimized and solidarity increases. On web sites and
broadcasting such as RFI, Africa N° 1, Radio Suisse Romande, Voice of America, BBC, the French language connects
youngsters by correspondence exchanging friendship developing and debate via satellite.
As regards, Internet in Togo many computerized centers were created in order to facilitate the access to Internet to all
social strata of the population.
However is clear eNough that the access to information through Internet is difficult in Togo because it has become a
matter of money and very people can offer themselves such a privilege.
As regards opening on the world, the French - Speaking youth is eager to accede to information. They wonder how
other live on the earth, their way of existence, how they struggle against diseases and poverty, how they deal with
drug, alcohol, AIDS and how they combine their efforts to eradicate them .
