Project goal
• Combine community development with social entrepreneurship to give rural villages the means of producing their own bio-energy, bio-fuels, animal feed, organic fertilizer & other high value-added outputs like vitamins while protecting envionment
• Partner with some of the leading industrial- & smaller-scale algae & anaerobic digestion facility producers, and developers/owners of other transformative, ultra-clean technologies
• Utilize an organizational structure that fosters entrepreneurship among the rural community so that other villages can readily acquire these benefits as well
• Serve both domestic & international markets, with a focus on partnering with rural communities in developing regions

• Local village ownership of the business provides the best incentive to motivate
• Expertise & experience designing & building algae production facilities in developing regions
• Partners with local knowledge of rural community’s needs, values & customs
• Commitment to contribute to the well-being of those living in developing regions by partnering with them instead of exploiting them
• High market demand & low price sensitivity among consumers for nutritional supplements (especially Chlorella, Spirulina & DHA)
• Strong overlap between market for nutritional supplements and people receptive to environmental sustainability, contributing to an improved standard of living
• Spirulina’s & Chlorella’s ability to provide protein & other nutrients to help combat malnutrition
• Ability to utilize smaller-scale, lower-cost algae and related biotechnologies to economically address several challenges confronting rural communities in East Africa
