Summary: 
Enabling the rural youth to become computer literate through training,Accessing them to internet services that are within reach. We have developed an information centre where youths and children come to read and get informed and involved in Community Development. The centre offers vocational skills to girls dropped out of school due to lack of school fees, early/forced marriages and other cultural reasons.

The role of ICT: 
Accessing, collating,disseminating, chatting and sharing information. ICT is used in the project during the research projects for students,internet services,Children's games, Developing ciculars and newsletters for the community and the youths in and out of school
Target groups and impact: 
Youths in and out of school. The project runs training sessions for the youth. including basic computer skills. We conduct mobile information clinics on matters ofurgent importance to the young people like Reproductive health, budgeting,drugs, fashion, advertising human and consumer rights etc
Achievements, milestones and wins: 
Won a grant award from GRAZ town council, Austria to conduct training of High School leavers on Sustainable Life Skills.and Sustainable Consumption, and Environment Our Young member won the prestigeous award from Consumer Citizenship Network, CCN for best essay written on Advertising and Youth. The first time the award came to the African Continent! This was in Berlin March 2008
The centre has hosted foreign volunteers from UK, Italy, Sweden, Ireland, and Canada. After offering their technical input some of them have continued to support the programme by adopting a needy child and sending money for his/her education. YEN staff has attended many international and national confernces, in Europe, Canada, Korea,Mauritius, India, Zimbabwe and others
Locally YEN has participated in policy making forums, in the Ministry of Education, Health, Culture and Social Services. We have organized, facilitated and participated in many youth events. A national Tennis player and member of YEN has a very outstanding tennis tean for the children and youths of Kibera slums in Nairobi
